WFF Theme 2023: Agrifood systems transformation accelerates climate action
What is the World Food Forum flagship event?
The World Food Forum (WFF) flagship event is a dynamic global platform that transcends boundaries, generations and sectors to transform the future of our agrifood systems. On 16–20 October 2023, both at the Headquarters of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) in Rome, Italy, and on our interactive virtual platform, the 2023 event will bring together world experts, impassioned changemakers and visionary leaders of all ages around the theme: “Agrifood systems transformation accelerates climate action.”
Organized into three interlinked fora - the WFF Global Youth Forum, the aFAO Sciencend Innovation Forum and the FAO Hand-in-Hand Investment Forum - the 2023 flagship event will leverage the power of intergenerational collaboration and creativity across policy, science, innovation, education, culture and investment. The goal is to forge new paths of action, impact and acceleration on the local, regional and global levels towards a sustainable, resilient, inclusive and hunger-free food future for all.
World Food Day, celebrated on 16 October, is dedicated to water - a precious resource that covers most of the Earth's surface, constitutes over 50% of our bodies, supports livelihoods and produces our food. However, we often take for granted the availability of water, which is not infinite. What we eat and how our food is produced has a major impact on water. Join FAO’s campaign for water action for food and sing their message. The Observance coincides with the World Food Forum (16-20 October), a global movement that empowers young people to shape a better food future for all. Be the change!
As the inaugural youth session of the 2023 World Food Forum, this session aims to inspire youth and highlight young people as key drivers of global agrifood systems transformation. By showcasing formidable youth-led initiatives, sharing lessons from successful changemakers and providing a glimpse into the upcoming Youth Action Assembly, this event will ignite urgency for youth to take positive actions towards creating a better food future, leaving no one behind.
